NeuroWave celebrates the anniversary of NeuroSENSE® use in Saint Luc Hospital and an upcoming case report in the Journal of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Anesthesia

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (November 1, 2013) - NeuroWave Systems Inc. is pleased to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of the installation of NeuroSENSE® Monitors in the operating rooms of Saint Luc Hospital (Brussels, Belgium).

"We very much appreciated Saint Luc's decision to put their trust into our technology and replace BIS Vista monitors in all their Operating Rooms by our NeuroSENSE® monitors", commented Ms. Zikov, NeuroWave's President. "After one year of operation, we are glad to see that Saint Luc's anesthesiologists have fully integrated our NeuroSENSE into their everyday patient management. This is an immense motivation for our continued dedication to bring the benefits of NeuroSENSing to patients worldwide."

A case report from Saint Luc on bilateral asymmetry, soon to be published in the Journal of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Anesthesia, emphasizes the importance of looking at both sides of the brain during cardiac surgery in order to devise adequate brain protection strategies.

Dr. Mona Momeni, MD, University Hospital Saint Luc, Department of Anesthesiology, an author of the report, stated: "Perioperative neurologic complications remain a burden to healthcare providers. Accurate detection and early treatment of these complications are indeed a challenge. We are currently using the NeuroSENSE monitor on a daily basis in adults undergoing cardiovascular surgery and have recently discovered its utility not only as a depth of anesthesia monitor, but also as a noninvasive monitor detecting perioperative neurologic events. In the event future abnormalities are observed with this monitor, a multidisciplinary intervention will be undertaken to improve the neurologic outcome of these patients."
